Motor Vehicle & Ag Equip Mechanic (Animal Science)

Department of Animal Sciences is seeking a dedicated individual to fill the role of Motor Vehicle and Ag Equipment Mechanic. In this dynamic position, you will play a vital role in providing essential maintenance of vehicles, machinery and property, ensuring the smooth operation of the program.

Position Information

Mechanic Equipment Repair and Maintenance.

  • Carried out scheduled services and maintenance on licensed vehicles, trailers, tractors and other motorized vehicles
  • Repair and maintain all field and farm equipment
  • Assist with equipment repair at Animal Science Research Units, as needed

Equipment Operator

  • Assist in all phases of field and crop production including spring tillage, seeding and haying procedures, harvesting, fall tillage and manure spreading

Infrastructure Repair and Maintenance

  • Assist in carpentry, fencing, and fabricating projects specific to farm units and research products

Assist Animal Science Units with Research Activities

  • Assist, as needed with livestock, calving and livestock, sample and data collection,
  • General Husbandry

Core Competencies

  • Ability to demonstrate experience with different type of welding, such as arc and wire feed welding
  • Five years of experience with motor vehicle and/or agriculture equipment repair and maintenance
  • Five years experience with farm equipment operation associated with forage and livestock production
  • Comfortable working with livestock
  • Experience in Microsoft Office (especially word and excel) maintaining vehicle maintenance records

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma
  • Must hold a valid drivers license

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associates degree in agriculture, diesel repair or equivalent field experience
  • Commercial Drivers License
