Position Summary

Amerit Fleet Solutions, one of the leading fleet maintenance companies in the US, is looking to hire a skilled Trailer Technician in West Jefferson, OH! The Trailer Technician will be responsible for the repair and maintenance of Class 7 - 8 trailers and will operate vehicles and test all working parts in various functions to ensure proper operation.

Compensation: Competitive Hourly Pay - Paid weekly, every Friday! $28-$34/hr DOE

Shift: Monday Friday 2pm-10pm

What the Trailer Technician role looks like:

  • Prepare vehicle records and report both manually and on a computer
  • Perform safety inspections of equipment and prepare safety documentation required
  • Inspect and perform work on the under parts of vehicles
  • Access any area of the equipment or vehicle to perform necessary maintenance
  • Move parts to and from the job site and remove or install these parts on vehicle
  • Comply with all applicable laws/regulations, as well as company policies/procedures
  • Perform other duties as required

What our ideal candidate looks like:

  • Must have at least 2 years' experience performing vehicle and trailer maintenance.
  • Must be able to operate a manual transmission vehicle to determine if operating properly
  • Must be able to enter and exit the driver's compartment of the truck and/or behind cab using normally available footholds and handholds
  • Must provide own hand tools
  • Perform DOT inspections
  • Basic computer skills
  • Basic written and verbal communication skills (documentation, communication with peers, supervisors, etc.)

Working Conditions:

  • Exposure to heavy traffic areas while performing the duties of the job.
  • Exposure to considerable amounts of dust, diesel fumes and noise.
  • Exposure to chemicals, oils, greases or other irritants
  • Access any area of the equipment or vehicle to perform necessary maintenance
  • Ability to move and position heavy objects
  • Ability to bend, stoop, crouch, kneel and crawl to repair vehicles
  • Ability to work outside in various weather conditions.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

What the Trailer Mechanic/Technician role looks like:

  • Prepare vehicle records and report both manually and on a computer
  • Perform repairs and preventative maintenance to trailers
  • Perform safety inspections of equipment and prepare safety documentation required
  • Comply with all applicable laws/regulations, as well as company policies/procedures
  • Inspect and perform work on the under parts of vehicles

  • Remove or install various parts on vehicles
  • Interact with clients through both email or phone as necessary
  • Perform other duties as required

Key Competencies and Minimum Education

What our ideal candidate looks like:

  • Experience with Class 8 tractor trailers and BIT/DOT Inspections and repairs
  • Experience with PMs, tires, and electrical
  • Must provide own hand tools & toolbox.
  • Proficient computer skills: knowledge of Excel, Word, Fleet Management Systems, and Email
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills (documentation, communication with peers, supervisors, etc.)
